I Came to Learn. I Found Community.

Dear Hope Church Family,

Thirteen years ago, I had a realization that I didn’t know how to study Scripture. Sure, I read the Bible, but how did one study it deeply? I had no idea where to begin, so I started praying for the Lord to teach me to study His Word. Shortly thereafter, our family relocated to Winston-Salem, started attending Hope, and I was invited to the Hope Women’s Bible Study. I had a newborn, a 1-year old, a 4-year old, and almost no friends; I jumped at the opportunity. At WBS, I made friends with women of all ages and stages, and discovered that rich relational connections developed as we studied God’s Word together.

God has used Women’s Bible Study in my life to deepen my love for Him, help me grow in the ability to study His Word, and to help me to have community with other women. My husband has also benefited from studying and praying with men in our Men’s Cohorts which meet throughout the week.

If you’re a woman, I’d like to invite you to join me this year for Women’s Bible Study on Wednesday mornings or Tuesday evenings; if you’re a man, I’d encourage you to enjoy the opportunity to gather with other men in a Men’s Cohort. Both men and women will be studying the book of Exodus, and I cannot wait to see how the Lord reveals Himself to us through our studies. Whether you know the Bible well or are dipping your toes into spending time in Scripture for the first time, you’re invited. Perhaps you’re afraid you’ll have to miss some weeks, or that you won’t be able to study very much. You’re invited. I’ve shown up to Bible Study without having read the text, and every time I’ve been blessed by being with other believers and fed by God’s Word. This is a grace-filled community. You’re invited to come as you are; you’ll be welcomed, and the Lord will meet you here too.
