A Praying Life
Dear Hope Church Family,
What do you enjoy staring at? For me, number one is the ocean. Number two is a fire in a fireplace. They seem to both calm and focus me.
What helps you pray with courage and confidence continually? For me, it is being around people who love to pray continually. I enjoy the opportunity to learn about prayer from others. I want to be around people who have a vision for a movement of prayer that is sustainable. I enjoy and need to be staring at a praying life.
We get to consider attending A Praying Life seminar on March 27-28 from SeeJesus.net hosted locally by Purple Crow. There is no cost to attend, but you need to register. You can do so here. It is too good to miss.
Jesus has built a hearth in each of us to be a fireplace of rejoicing and praying continually, and giving thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:17). John White describes the Christian life as a fire. The Spirit is the fire and God’s word is fuel for the fire. We get to ask for the Spirit (Luke 11:13) and keep adding the ‘wood’ of scripture (Psalm 1) to the bonfire of His grace and mercy in us and through us.
If your tide has gone out, and your fire is burning low, ask God to help you find a way to attend. Jesus lived a praying life so that every day we would have the opportunity to pray the way he did.
Valerie and I hope to see you there.
